January 11, 2018, marked the 50th Anniversary of one of the last speeches given by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at a college or university. Dr. King spoke at Ohio Northern University in the Taft Gymnasium on January 11, 1968. The division of university advancement, alongside the ONU President’s Office, and a committee of key stakeholders utilized this momentous anniversary to facilitate a collaborative fundraising and programming effort that led to fully funding and dedicating a statue of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on campus which depicts his talk at ONU 50 years ago.
