This story was the face of a bold step forward in the first issue of our magazine’s redesign. Chico Statements underwent a transformation—months, if not years, in the making—in which we strove to provide long-form, thought-provoking features, tackle important yet hard topics, and stay true to our university values. This story is the first representation of those goals and set the tone for the type of salient narratives our magazine can and will produce.

Very well done! Excellent use of storytelling and narrative. Very evocative of the fear illegal immigrants deal with constantly. Also enjoyed following a set of individual experiences as opposed to a piece solely about one person.
