In fall 2018, four different divisions at Rice collaborated on the communications roll out for the Rice Investment, a new financial aid initiative that significantly expands support for low- and middle-income students and their families, allowing many students to attend Rice University tuition-free. The public announcement on Sept. 18 and subsequent multi-channel communications effort developed by Admissions, Public Affairs, the Office of the President, and Development and Alumni Relations, allowed Rice to speak with one voice as a university while garnering national media attention, increased student applications, donations, and a wellspring of enthusiasm for Rice.
