Ignite is FIU's annual faculty and staff giving campaign. It marries need-based funds from university community members and grassroots initiatives, which promote a philanthropic culture of paying it forward. Each individual can direct his or her gift to any fund, allowing a transition from passive donation to ownership of philanthropic endeavors. We focus on the value of participation (no gift is too small), and all donors are equally recognized with a commemorative annual pin, a thank you card, and a certificate of recognition.
From the judges
Love the energy and effort put into the donor-directed giving and putting the faculty and staff at the heart of it. An “educators” voice is so often not the dominant voice in fundraising initiatives, and the level of detail in stewardship is impressive with such a small team. “Igniters” is a great term for volunteers.
