The March Matchness challenge was a segmented, online campaign launched in March 2018 to raise funds in support of specific fundraising priorities across the institution. In many cases, this campaign was designed to target smaller constituencies, where matching gifts existed, to energize those donor groups.

Judges liked the play on march madness with the matching gifts—bucking the trend of trying to pitch unrestricted/scholarship giving by pitching to what donors want. Results show the approach works.
