‘Manchester Day of Action’ is a global volunteer activism campaign aligned with addressing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In the summer of 2019, we invited alumni worldwide to come together and give one day of their time to support a local charitable or community cause. Alumni volunteers who organised the projects were free to choose which of the 17 SDGs they wished to support and which local causes they gave their time for. Teams as small as four or as large as 40 could participate. Every group was provided with a banner and every participant with a purple t shirt and sticker, using a campaign logo. This allowed organisers to capture pictures and video footage which collectively told the story of the global volunteering effort.
