This historical piece covers the lives of two prominent Australian figures, Dr Cathryn and Dr Margaret Mittelheuser, and is beautifully illustrated with historical imagery. The piece beautifully encapsulates the bond between the two sisters and their struggle to overcome the biases of the time they grew up in, to attain outstanding career outcomes in male-dominated fields. Margaret is best known for becoming the first woman to head a stockbroking office and the first woman to be registered as a stockbroker in Australia. While Cathryn is a revered plant scientist and was one of the first Australians to be published in the internationally renowned journal, Nature, when she discovered a substance that helped plants retain water.
