LOL with “Landis on the Line”
From the Nominator
With approximately 740 students in grades K-12, Wildwood School is distinguished by its extraordinarily close community. As we transitioned to a distributed learning model last spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Office of Advancement was challenged with finding a way of keeping this sense of togetherness–especially when so many spring traditions and celebrations were either cancelled or moved online.
The Landis on the Line video series sought to bring a sense of human connection–and a bit of humor–in an otherwise troubling time. The premise of each episode starts with Head of School Landis Green calling to check in on various members of the Wildwood community–from school directors to coaches, counselors to parents. Once he had them “on the line,” participants would share how they had adjusted their typical duties to a digital environment. The resulting conversations proved an adept way of showcasing the creativity, innovation, and dedication of Wildwood faculty, staff, students, and parents. Instead of another reminder of what was lost due to the pandemic, viewers instead were left with prime examples of our community’s strength and ingenuity.
Over the course of 10 weeks, the series built a cult following of parents and students who were eager to see their favorite teachers and staff featured–and the surprise of finding out each week’s guest(s) made for a fun and exciting way to conclude the week.
