As a 133-year old institution, Chico State has a long history of engaging with its alumni across a number of platforms. Our culture of community and connection has made our in-person engagements key to both our identity and our ongoing relationships with what to date number more than 160,000 alumni around the world. When faced with the loss of its live alumni events in spring 2020, the Chico State Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement created and launched a live webinar series to maintain our connection, support the University in its mission of lifelong learning, and provide continued value amid a time of great uncertainty.
The webinar series gives us an opportunity to highlight and showcase our exceptional faculty, as well as distinguished alumni. Each webinar includes a university host (usually a dean), a moderator (usually an accomplished faculty expert), and 3-4 panelists who are alumni in the field we are covering. Through the 10 webinars we have hosted to date, we have engaged more than 1,200 alumni, who report they are finding great value in this service, which we plan to continue even once we can gather in person again. In maintaining our alumni’s connection with Chico State, we continue to establish ourselves as a comprehensive university of the North State with a global reach. Through excellence of inquiry, innovation, and experiential learning that continues beyond graduation, we develop students and alumni who are critical thinkers, responsible citizens, diverse leaders, and inspired stewards of environmental, social, and economic resources.
