Carly joined the University of Oxford as Head of Development for Medical Sciences in 2018. Previously, Carly served as the Director of Development at the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University, where she oversaw the campaign to raise funds to support innovative teacher preparation programmes.

Carly also worked at the University of Texas at Austin, in the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement as their Director of Development, raising funds to support programmes that increased access for underrepresented students.
