From Transaction to Strategy: CFR's Evolution Yields Partnerships and Results
This session will demonstrate the importance of strategic academic partnerships to achieve new levels of fundraising success in CFR, support priorities across the university, and prime the institution for collaboration beyond advancement. We will present our philosophy for a strategic partnership between CFR and academic leadership, and we will focus on successful case studies from two institutions that vary in size and scope: William & Mary and The Ohio State University. Some of the best practice strategies that we will highlight include
- Regular brainstorming sessions and ongoing ideation between CFR staff and academic leaders, which provide the space for co-creation of new programs, two-way education, and swift action when opportunities arise for solicitation;
- Re-framing stewardship needs as an opportunity to cultivate new ideas for the next opportunity, and to instill a culture of philanthropy among faculty and students;
- Re-formulation of faculty awards (including limited submission opportunities) as a joint endeavor between advancement and university leadership, with shared goals, responsibilities, and successes.
