Building a Team and Team-Building: How We Tripled our Alumni Engagement Staff and Used the Enneagram to Enhance Connections Among New Team Members
Restructuring a department is exciting and daunting. In this session we’ll share our experience with restructuring twice in two years. We’ll discuss how we restructured strategically as we were asked to do more with less, considering the long-term goals of the department, division, and university. We’ll explore how we decided which roles we needed to create and fill, how we selected candidates, and how we built a cohesive team as we tripled our number of staff. We’ll discuss what we did well that we carried into a second restructuring, and what we learned from and chose to do differently. We’ll spend time focusing specifically on team-building and using the Enneagram as a tool to enhance positive, productive relationships among team members. Participants will leave the session with strategies to implement with their own teams whether they’re growing, restructuring, or simply looking to enhance communication and collaboration within an existing team.
