Big Data became a ubiquitous and somewhat meaningless term gradually but has played a role in making us continue to think about the amount and types of data we collect. As society continues to work on building fair and equitable systems our sector also continues to strive toward creating practices grounded in equity. Data collection, storage, management, and manipulation need to be addressed through the lens of equity, community representation/protection, and accessibility. In this panel discussion, we are going to explore ideas about what’s holding the non-profit sector back from building and sharing data equity practices besides staff and budget.
