Elective session- “Like a box of chocolates:” Building a case for support for unrestricted legacy pledges.
A case for support for unrestricted legacy giving is the golden snitch of any legacy programme, and in this session I will break down the “chocolate box” strategy. At its heart, this is a supporter-centred approach, with multiple cases for support to appeal to different audiences, but all (hopefully) leading to an unrestricted legacy pledge.
I will discuss:
• Examples of different audiences and the “hooks” to pledging an unrestricted gift.
• Tools of the trade, with this multi-audience approach we work with our budget and wider team to think
• creatively on engaging these groups.
• The specific challenges and opportunities that University/ Higher Education institutions face when crafting a case for support.
• The vitality of stewardship in unrestricted legacy pledges.
