• Review the award criteria listed below
• Complete the online application by the published deadline (requires a CASE login)
• Applications are reviewed by the Venture Fund Committee and presented to the District V Executive Committee for final approval
• Grant recipients contacted and awards announced
• Grant payment will be made to the sponsoring institution
• Grant recipients will market their activities independently of CASE
• Grant recipients will recognize the support from the CASE District V Venture Fund in all of their marketing materials for this activity.
• Grant recipients will complete their activity within 12 months of notification of award
• Within 30 days of completion of the activity, grant recipients will submit a final report. 

Successful applications will most likely meet some of the following criteria:

• Impact on a number of CASE District V professionals
• Collaboration of CASE District V member institutions
• Programs that do not replicate existing programs offered by CASE V, to include the annual conference
• Comprehensive budget including justification of the need for funding
• Identified need and desired outcomes including correlation to CASE and District V priorities

The Venture Fund is:
Available for members from all District V institutions, large and small, urban and rural, public and private.

The Venture Fund is not:
A way to pay tuition for existing classes or participation in a program that just one CASE District V member is attending.

• Grant winners are expected to file a final report detailing the use and impact of funds within 30 days of completion of the activity.
• This report will include the number of participants, names of participating institutions, an event summary, a final budget and all marketing materials.

Ohio Prospect Research Network Donor-Centered Fundraising Workshop – Ohio State University ($2500)

Online conference for 90 members in over institutions with a focus on low registration fees for institutions with small budgets. Share information about prospect development and fundraising analytics.

Chicago Area Independent School Development Camp – Francis W. Parker School ($4075)

Connect independent school development professionals in the Midwest region with one another to network, share resources, and learn from one another. Provide free virtual meetings or mini-conferences on a variety of topics

Spring 2019
Frances W. Parker School ($4,500) 
Expansion of attendees and travel scholarships for 15 schools outside of the region for the Chicago Area Independent School Development (CAISD) Summer Camp which connects independent school development professionals in the Midwest region. 

Metropolitan State University ($4,200) 
A two-part conference for the 37 colleges and universities in the Minnesota State system about advancement, faculty and academic staff partnerships for prospect management and development.

Ohio Dominican University ($4,000)
A day drive-in conference in partnership with the Independent College Advancement Associates focused on the recruitment and retention of advancement team members.

University of Notre Dame ($3,000)
Offer a low or no cost registration for the sixth annual Higher Education Mentorship Roundtable in order for a diverse group of schools and professionals to participate. This roundtable explores meaningful alumni engagement opportunities while facilitating the professional growth and development of students.

Fall 2019
Kent State University ($4,950)
A one-day, free conference for advancement colleagues at regional institutions to network and learn to apply for multi-institutional and collaborative grants from large funders. A panel format will provide attendees the opportunity to hear directly from those already participating in successful partnerships.

Northwestern Alumni Association ($2,550)
The future of geographic-based alumni clubs and chapters and how to measure their success will be the topic of a round-table-based conference designed for more than a dozen institutions. The one-and-a-half-day conference will feature a guest speaker focusing on Generation Z’s implications for the geographic model.

Oakland University and the Michigan Association of State Universities ($4,000)
An annual conference of Michigan’s public universities is expanding to include the state’s private institutions’ alumni professionals. Sessions on how alumni staffs can best partner with their annual fund colleagues, plus topics from board development to young alumni programming, will be featured in this one-day professional development opportunity.

Gustavus Adolphus College ($1,750)
Minnesota’s alumni professionals will enhance the programming and expand the number of participating institutions to include the northern part of the state with this additional support for their annual conference. The event will offer attendees the opportunity to learn from a plenary, share success stories and participate in break-out sessions based on specific areas of responsibility.

Northwestern University Gift Agreement Writers and Advisers (GAWA) cohort ($3000) 
An annual meeting exploring best practices and building a professional community with 75 attendees from up to 30 institutions.

Miami University ($3100) 
A round table about young alumni engagement specifically focused on the student to first five years out from undergraduate education. The goal is for 20 attendees.

Northwestern University Alumni Association ($2550) 
A day and a half mini-conference about the engagement of diverse alumni populations.

Lakeland Community College ($4500) 
A community college fundraising program in partnership with The Ohio Association of Community Colleges.

Lawrence School ($3000) 
Establish an independent school District V advancement workshop focused on specific enrollment, fundraising and marketing needs.

University of Cincinnati ($5000)
Pilot workshop in August 2018 for skill building to work with diverse populations of alumni, donors and colleagues.

Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law ($2300)
Social justice fundraising roundtable for frontline fundraisers responsible for philanthropic support work for such regional programs in higher education.

Miami University ($4400)
One day workshop in August 2019 to discuss how alumni associations can engage alumni communities with a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion.

Minnesota State University Mankato ($2700)
First time ever training for advancement and foundations leadership in the Minnesota State System for best practices in board governance and how the foundation and university can work better together to address challenges collectively in the state.

Black Hawk College ($5000)
One day conference with 20 regional institutions about creating better experiences for community college students through advancement partnerships with corporations and foundations including alumni internships and stewarding partnership relationships.

Francis W. Parker School ($5000)
To expand Chicago Area Independent School Development (CASID) workshop to connect independent school development professionals across the Midwest for networking and sessions about the annual fund, major gifts, special events, knowledge management and alumni relations.

University of Michigan ($2,500)
Prospect development and analytics teams from sixteen institutions will meet to identify solutions for key challenges, build consensus for industry-wide best practices, and share data and code sharing across institutions.

University of Minnesota ($5,000)
The Big Ten alumni professionals' conference brings 80 attendees from 14 Big Ten institutions together annually. The day and a half event includes break out and plenary sessions about emerging alumni relations trends and working with campus partners.

Cleveland State University ($5,000)
Cleveland State University used funds to launch The Northeast Ohio Summit on Alumni Engagement, a new day-long professional development conference. Attendees from research universities, community colleges, small private institutions and health sciences programs will be invited to build regional partnerships.

Loyola Academy ($1,500)
Advancement vice presidents from ten parochial high schools will come together to collaborate for new ideas. Topics will be succession planning, onboarding a new president, and prospect management practices.

Northwestern University ($2,420)
The roundtable will focus on graduate student and alumni engagement. Ten universities will participate to identify creating systematic and centralized approaches for this alumni population.

University of Wisconsin Stevens Point ($1,500)
The annual giving officers from 25 institutions in Wisconsin will meet for SWAG (Summit for Wisconsin Annual Giving). The summit provided a zero cost professional development opportunity during a time of tight budgets.

Northcentral Technical College ($5000)
The 16 members of the Wisconsin Technical College System and their respective foundations will organize the Wisconsin Development of Members (WIS-DOM), a state-wide, six month training focused on board governance and engagement.

Northwestern University ($5000)
Northwestern University hosted the Gift Agreement Writers and Advisers Cohort (GAWA) meeting with 30 institutions participating with gift agreement function benchmarking and data analysis from up to 50 institutions.

University of Minnesota Duluth ($5000)
A new conference was held focusing on alumni engagement for outstate colleges and universities in Northern Wisconsin and Minnesota. The attendees will address engagement challenges and opportunities for distantly clustered alumni populations.

DePaul University ($5000)
De Paul University launched a professional development event to bring together District V postsecondary Catholic institutions under the banner "Connecting Philanthropy to Mission."

Ivy Tech Community College ($5000)
Ivy Tech Community College offered a one-day conference about harnessing the power of community to create better experiences for community college students. Among the topics are corporate and foundation partnerships, experiential learning, and industry and student collaboration.

Wayne State University ($3500)
Wayne State University's Office of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving partnered with the Michigan Association of State Universities to host a day-long professional development conference for alumni relations, annual giving and alumni communications staff from all 15 Michigan public universities.

Minnesota Private College Fund ($5,000)
The Minnesota Private College Fund (MPCF) organized a one day professional training for fundraising professionals for its 17 member campuses.

Marian University ($5,000)
Marian University conducted a diversity and inclusion workshop addressing topics that include attracting students, faculty, staff and successful ways to work with diverse and international alumni.

Ohio Wesleyan University ($5,000)
Ohio Wesleyan University organized a day focused on new development professionals for 100-125 attendees from 40 institutions across the state. Topics will include the future of philanthropy, what motivates a large gift and applying information from the day to day development work.

Lawrence University ($4,080)
Lawrence University with constituent colleges of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest hosted a two-day professional development conference with more than 100 attendees from 14 collaborating colleges.

Ashland University ($3,500)
Ashland University as part of the Independent College Advancement Associates planning group hosted a guest speaker about current trends in higher education advancement. Seventy attendees from over 25 institutions attended the one day workshop development at a cost affordable for small shop budgets.

Northwestern University ($2,420)

Northwestern University hosted a roundtable about recent alumni engagement, specifically student to alumni transition in the first five years from undergraduate education. Fifteen institutions participated. 

Northwestern University ($2,700)
The Northwestern University Alumni Association hosted a roundtable about global alumni engagement and how to integrate it with institutional goals.

DePauw University ($5,000)
DePauw University offered a one day workshop for the annual giving teams of peer liberal arts institutions focusing on annual fund analytics and diversity in fundraising.

University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI) $1,000
The University of Michigan prospect development and analytics team organized a forum for regional peer institutions about key challenges and innovative solutions in prospect development.

Indiana University ($3,000)
Indiana University conducted a one day social media conference at IUPUI for 100 communications and marketing professionals from eight campuses.
