Join a District Cabinet in Europe
About the European District Cabinets
The District Cabinets support CASE’s engagement with members in geographical areas. They assist CASE in developing and delivering services relevant to their local audience, which can include providing networking, programming and member engagement activities.
There are three District Cabinets in Europe:
- Continental Europe (representing members located in: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey)
- Northern Europe (representing members located in: Denmark, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden)
- United Kingdom & Ireland (representing members located in: England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Wales)
Each District Cabinet member is appointed initially to a two-year term of office, which can be extended by up to two more years. Our District Cabinets meet three times a year, twice online and once in person. CASE will cover any travel expenses required to attend meetings. Express Your Interest
In boosting the membership of our District Cabinets from summer 2024, we seek candidates who are committed to helping CASE to increase its impact in supporting advancement professionals across Europe.
If you would enjoy the opportunity to work with advancement professionals from a range of institution types in varied locations to develop CASE's offer to members, please do consider applying to join a District Cabinet.
We aim to achieve wide representation in the membership of our District Cabinets. As well as seeking varied expertise and experience, we encourage applications from candidates who are from a Black, Asian or minority ethnic background, are aged under 40 or have a disability, who are currently underrepresented among CASE volunteer leaders in Europe.
If you know someone who you believe would be ideally suited to one of these roles, please do encourage them to apply. We are only able to accept applications directly from individuals, rather than nominations, but we are aware that some excellent candidates may value a nudge.
Applications to join the Cabinets are now closed. If you are interested in CASE's volunteer leadership opportunities, please get in touch by emailing europe@case.org

“Contributing to the development of the advancement profession is one of the most rewarding ways to give back. Volunteering for CASE has provided me with professional networks, new ideas and international perspectives that have assisted in my career to date.
"My role within the UK & Ireland Cabinet has provided me with the clear understanding that communications and marketing professionals are a key constituency for CASE. As a Cabinet, we are committed to ensuring that we are providing value to and effectively engaging with all professions as an integral part of the advancement portfolio.”
When CASE asked me: “Do you want to be a volunteer promoting and supporting our organisation in Continental Europe”, my answer was: “Of course!” Having worked in Higher Education in the UK and having enjoyed incredible support from CASE and fellow members in dealing with various challenges in my recent roles, I was sure that I did not want to miss this back in Germany. We, as Advancement professionals, need a unique set of skills and we need data and structured learnings to stand firmly as advocates for volunteering and philanthropy. CASE is offering this to its members, and I hope future members can enjoy this benefit too.
“Volunteering for CASE gives you a network of professional peers and a better understanding of your field of work in an international setting, alongside opportunities to develop skills and share experiences. I highly recommend volunteering for a position on one of the European Cabinets.”
“The Cabinet provides an opportunity to support, guide and give feedback to CASE on its work and future direction. I got involved to give something back to an organisation that has provided me with a fantastic network of colleagues and professionals and it’s been a rewarding experience so far. Our profession is changing and adapting and this is a wonderful chance to shape its future.”
“For me, CASE is the forum where I connect with advancement professionals around the globe, getting new ideas and energy to continue with the job. The Northern Europe Cabinet adds to this experience by giving an in-depth understanding of how our profession works in our region.
"There are many best practices that we can learn from each other. Having lived in Denmark and Lithuania, as well as in Finland, it is important for me that our Cabinet connects the Nordic and Baltic countries.”
“CASE has been a tremendous source of learning, inspiration, support and connections worldwide that have helped me grow in my role. I highly recommend any professional in advancement to join the CASE family and volunteer.
Within the Continental Europe Cabinet, we’re on a mission to build a thriving community and support the fast growth of the alumni and philanthropy professions in the region. We need more volunteers - so come and join in.”
