Matthew Roberts is the senior director of corporate and foundation relations at Ohio University Advancement. His primary role is to administer giving relationships with both corporations and foundations on behalf of Ohio University, its regional campuses, and various external programs. Since taking the position in 2015, he has led a variety of projects related to corporate and foundation proposal development, organizational stewardship, and relationship development at the Ohio University Foundation.
Roberts began his fundraising career in 1994 as a senior staffer for community-based nonprofits focusing on grants management and proposal writing. Starting in 2001, he served as a vice president of programs where he provided both corporate and foundation relations and successfully managed one of the largest grant-based program awards in the state of Ohio. From 2006 through 2014, he served as a senior project manager and development director for organizational giving at the OhioHealth Foundation, which supported a 46-county health system in central and southeastern Ohio.
He holds a master's degree in public administration from Ohio University. He is also a 1998 Grantsmanship Center graduate and has served as a grant reviewer for United Way, state and regional funding organizations. Roberts has extensive knowledge of the grant writing and review process, specializing in new case development, stewardship, and program-based fundraising. He is also a member of the Network of Academic Corporate Relations Officers.
