Bio

Lori Cwalina is the Associate Vice President for Development, School and Academic Units, at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. In this role she provides leadership to the development operations for six academic divisions, collaborating with deans, university administrators, senior management, and volunteers to create and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies that support the priorities of each school/unit and the university as a whole. Her portfolio encompasses the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences (including the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design, the School of Media and Public Affairs, and the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration), Elliott School of International Affairs, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Graduate School of Education and Human Development, College of Professional Studies (including the Graduate School of Political Management) and The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum.

Prior to fulfilling this centralized role at GW where she assists in setting the overall strategic direction of GW’s fundraising efforts and serves as a primary advisor for international development activity, Lori held the position of assistant vice president for development at GW’s Elliott School of International Affairs, where she and her team worked closely with the dean and faculty to build philanthropic relationships and the institutional brand domestically and across the globe. Previously, Lori served as Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Relations at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, and has assumed leadership roles at the University of Virginia and National Cathedral School.

Lori earned her B.A. in psychology from the University of Virginia and her M.Ed. in higher education policy, planning, and leadership from The College of William and Mary. Additionally, she possesses her Certificat de Pâtisserie de Bas from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, which was put to great use during her entrepreneurial baking start-up, Go Girl Goodies.
