14:00 Building an Endowment - the Role of Legacy Bequests
A Legacy pledge is a commitment to an institution's future that is made today. The same concept lies behind every endowed gift, whether restricted or unrestricted, that is made in a donor's lifetime.
Organisational leadership frequently looks to the US to understand successful fundraising practice there and, whilst we know approaches often need to be adapted (rather than adopted) we have some thoughts to bring to you from the US and from the arts and cultural sector. We will share some findings from a recent endowment benchmarking study, show the potential to link a legacy programme to growing an endowment and see if this sparks ideas for you within your institution.
