The Art of Leadership
Leading in advancement takes strategic thinking, integrity, and cultural awareness—all skills highlighted in the CASE Academy, CASE’s six-month leadership development program.
The second cohort of this training for rising stars in advancement launches Oct. 6, 2021. Spearheaded by chair Liesl Elder, chief development officer at the University of Oxford, CASE Academy gives participants an opportunity to explore the essential skills for advancement professionals outlined in the CASE Competency Model.
For last year’s inaugural CASE Academy cohort, which kicked off in November 2020, 58 participants gathered online each month in eight faculty-led cohorts for presentations, activities, and discussions. During each monthly plenary, London-based artist and “live scribe” Jessica Edwards captured key ideas in illustrated notes. In the January 2021 session, faculty member Karen Osborne of The Osborne Group led a conversation on strategic thinking.
For the May 2021 session, faculty member Paul Rucker, vice president for alumni and stakeholder engagement at the University of Washington, led a discussion on integrity and professionalism.
“CASE Academy provided a sacred space during a very difficult year to think strategically, optimistically, and thoughtfully about our profession and how we can most positively impact our institutions, colleagues, and our own personal growth.”
