At the CASE Board of Trustees meeting held last week in Alexandria, Va., the group unanimously approved a new volunteer leadership structure and took initial steps toward implementing the new change. This action follows a series of unanimous votes of approval by all of CASE's regional and district boards, and is the most significant transition since CASE was established 44 years ago.

The goal of this effort is a streamlined volunteer leadership structure which will lead to a seamless member experience based on individual needs and interests. The ongoing work of CASE members globally will continue to have at their core the culture of volunteerism and camaraderie that has been cultivated and nurtured over many years. This new volunteer leadership structure will ensure that this culture not only continues but flourishes.

CASE member institutions will be required to vote on these changes in the coming months. Staff will continue to establish the operational changes and remain in consultation with CASE volunteer groups. An Implementation Task Force will guide this phase, just as the Global Governance Steering Committee has guided the project to date. The goal is to conclude all the legal and operational steps by July 1, 2020.

CASE Trustees also approved the fiscal year 2018 audited financial statements, the 2019 U.S. Legislative Agenda, the CASE Global Policy Framework, and the slate of 2019 Distinguished Service Award recipients.

The next board meeting will take place March 14 - 16, 2019, in San Diego, CA
