Correct Your Posture
If you sit in front of a computer all day and feel achy, it’s time to make your posture a priority. Keep these tips in mind to improve your computer posture.
- Position your computer monitor at eye level. Avoid tilting your head up or down, which strains your neck.
- When sitting, keep your feet connected to the floor, with your knees at hip level.
- Choose a chair that supports the natural curve of your spine.
- Use a cushion or rolled-up towel for additional back support if needed.
- Take a break—stand up and stretch. Take a deep breath and while exhaling, shrug your shoulders and retract your shoulder blades toward each other to open your chest.
- When standing, keep your feet shoulder-width apart and don’t lock your knees (keep at a slight bend). Exand your back, broaden your shoulders, relax your chest, and point your tailbone down.
