Cultivating the Next Generation of Advancement Professionals
CASE offers two long-standing programs with an eye toward the future of the profession. Aimed at college students, the CASE Advancement Internship Program is an eight-week summer paid internship, and the CASE Graduate Trainee Program provides a year-long paid residency for new graduates.
Interns and graduate trainees work at member host institutions throughout the US and Canada. Interns receive training at CASE headquarters in Washington, D.C., together as a cohort before starting their internships. Graduate trainees receive professional development through CASE for the entire year of their residencies, including attending the Summer Institute for Educational Fundraising.
“CASE allowed me to explore each area of advancement, from fundraising, prospect research, data entry, and alumni relations,” says Brea’ Miller, who interned at Georgia College & State University in 2018 and 2019. She is now Manager, Alumni Relations and Events, at West Coast University in Richardson, Texas. “Because of that I learned from each respective area to see how important each department is and how they simultaneously work together to create the best alumni experience. With this, I found my true passion for alumni engagement and relations because I love cultivating relationships with alumni.”
A majority of interns and graduate trainees find their professional home in advancement, says Robyn Neeley, Director of Talent Management at CASE. “We love staying in touch with them and hearing about their professional growth as they make their mark on the profession at the institutions they serve and as CASE volunteers. Many of our earlier interns and graduate trainees are now moving into mid-career advancement roles, and that’s exciting.”
CASE is currently accepting applications for the programs and has openings for host institutions. Learn more online by visiting the Internship Program and the Graduate Trainee Program.
