Expert Panel Discusses Rebuilding Public Trust in Higher Education
WASHINGTON, D.C.—A distinguished panel of experts in higher education tackled the challenging issue of how to rebuild the public's trust in the sector during a discussion Friday morning at American University in Washington, D.C.
The Council for Advancement and Support of Education convened the event, "Claiming Our Story: The Imperative for Higher Education." This is the first of what CASE plans will be many conversations on rebuilding trust and demonstrating the intrinsic value of higher education as a public good.
Participating on the panel were Sylvia M. Burwell, president of American University; Danielle Douglas-Gabriel, reporter, education finance, the Washington Post, Andrew Hamilton, president, New York University and Ted Mitchell, president, American Council on Education. CASE President and CEO Sue Cunningham moderated the 90-minute discussion. American University hosted the event on its campus.
In addition to the campus audience, hundreds of educators, advancement professionals and others worldwide watched the event via live webcast.
