Slow Down
Do you often rush through projects and feel stressed? Consider these tactics to slow down, which will help you successfully accomplish your work and alleviate stress.
- Focus on one task at a time. Multitasking tends to be an ineffective way to get things done, so start with one task on your list and complete it. Then take a small, energizing break before moving to the next task. Not only is this approach more suited to our brains, but you will likely get more done.
- Break big task into smaller ones. Do you procrastinate when you facing a project that will take hours or days to complete? Break it into smaller subtasks. As you complete each one, take a break to mark the milestone and enjoy your progress.
- Reduce interruptions. Being accessible to colleagues is important, and so is focused concentration. You lose momentum if you constantly stop mid-task to respond to phone calls, emails, and visitors. Setting aside focus time can help.
- Take care of yourself. Eat a proper meal instead of snacking, take frequent breaks from sitting, and get enough sleep. And although working long hours may seem productive, it can hurt performance if it exhausts you and makes your short-tempered. If it helps, think of your time off as a necessary part of your work. You will be more productive in the long run.
