U.S. Supreme Court Decision a big win for Dreamers but we need to press on, says CASE President and CEO
We welcome the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to prevent, for now, the elimination of DACA. As a global association committed to advancing education worldwide, CASE supports policies that allow and encourage individuals to seek life-changing educational opportunities regardless of their or their parents' country of origin. The court’s decision allows thousands of Dreamers to continue their studies and research at U.S. colleges, universities, and schools without the immediate threat and fear of deportation. It also enables the many Dreamers who are alumni of those institutions to continue serving this country as contributors in their professions, including health care.
CASE stands in strong support of DACA students, staff, and alumni and will continue working with our members and education association colleagues to urge Congress to pass legislation as soon as possible that includes all the protections currently provided under DACA and allows Dreamers to continue making significant contributions to the U.S. economy and society.
