Why did you apply to the graduate trainee scheme?

During my time at University, I was a student caller, where I had my first taste of fundraising and loved it! I then managed to secure an internship at the Development and Alumni Office at Glasgow and deepened my knowledge of philanthropy within Higher Education. This exposure certainly influenced my decision to pursue a career in the sector and I became aware of the prestige and value of the CASE graduate trainee scheme. Professionally, it gives me the opportunity to understand all sections of the Development and Alumni team, expand my network of fundraising professionals and gain invaluable professional training. Personally, I am able to align my own interests to Cardiff's student support and research areas and contribute to these efforts. It is a very rewarding combination!

What are you hoping to achieve from your year on the scheme?

I am hoping to positively contribute to the team here at Cardiff and develop my skills as a face-to-face fundraiser. I am also hoping to get involved in anything and everything that comes my way during the year and benefit from the support here at Cardiff and from CASE. Ultimately, I am hoping to become a skilled fundraising professional that is actively contributing towards Cardiff's future.

What are you career ambitions?

After having worked as a student caller and intern in the Development and Alumni office at Glasgow, I was able to secure a position as a conversion and marketing assistant at the University of Glasgow's College of Science and Engineering. During my time there I realised the impact fundraising has on research and scholarship opportunities for academically talented students and researchers. I want to use all of the support, guidance and aid that I have received so far to forward these efforts and hope to secure fundraising positions in the future.

What are you hobbies/activities outside of study/work?

Hill-walking, swimming, skiing and reading.

Proudest moment?

My proudest moment was my graduation and being able to celebrate the achievement with my parents.
