Lorna Somers is the Vice President of Advancement & Alumni Engagement at Mohawk College in Ontario, Canada. She joined the Mohawk College Foundation in 2022. An accomplished fundraiser, Somers spent 35 years at McMaster University, where she secured some of the largest charitable gifts in Canadian history. Involved with CASE since 1996, she served on the CASE Board for six years and has helped design, lead, and present at more than 300 CASE events across the globe.
About the Award
The E. Burr Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award honors individuals who have made a significant and lasting impact on the field of institutional advancement through their professional accomplishments. The award is named in honor of E. Burr Gibson, longtime chairman and CEO of the consulting firm Marts & Lundy, which has supported the award with a generous contribution. Gibson, who received the CASE Liftetime Achievement Award in 2008, died in 2010.
