From the Nominator
The UVA Clubs program created and launched an augmented reality version of the University of Virginia’s mascot, Cav Man, to coincide with the ACC and NCAA Basketball Tournaments in March 2018. The 3D Cav Man is a life-size, virtual image of UVA’s mascot. Using a UVA logo as a visual trigger for the augmented reality technology, the 3D Cav Man can appear in anyone’s photos and videos anywhere and at any time. The larger the printed size of the trigger image, the larger Cav Man appears in the photos and videos. Using augmented reality technology, UVA Clubs were able to bring our mascot to alumni and friends around the world and engage them directly in our university's participation in the ACC and NCAA tournaments.
