Kellett's school magazine, The Dragon, reaches new heights
From the Nominator
For years Kellett produced a printed magazine aimed at parents which came out the term after the events had taken place. But we didn’t think people were reading it. Our fears were confirmed when we gathered feedback from parents - they tended to quickly skim the content looking for photos of their children. We decided to go entirely digital - to increase frequency, increase timeliness, reduce costs, incorporate more creative content, get useful data, reduce waste, save trees, reduce the burden on teaching staff and increase readership. The Dragon - named after our school mascot - was born. It comes out at least twice a term, is designed to be mobile-friendly and contains multiple videos, as well as other engaging content such as quizzes or polls. Each edition is loosely themed around a school initiative or subject area such as Science, Positive Education, Mandarin or Technology, and we include content from all three schools. There are regular columns including Get to Know a member of staff (from teachers to behind the scenes administrators), and different sections for alumni and Parents’ Committee news.
