In May 2020, the Northwestern Alumni Association quickly and seamlessly developed PhD Pathways–a new virtual mentor circle series–to provide an enhanced level of engagement between graduate students and PhD alumni in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The series was launched in partnership with the Graduate School, and offers graduate students the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue with PhD alumni around diverse career trajectories ranging from academia to industry to startup organizations. PhD Pathways provides a strong sense of empathy, support, and awareness of available career options to graduate students from those who can best relate to their academic experience.
