Magazines: Publishing Improvement
Entries should demonstrate outstanding improvement of a print magazine that has taken place over a two-year period. Print magazines that have implemented significant changes between Jan. 1, 2022 and Dec. 31, 2023, and are published for any constituency are eligible for recognition in this category. In addition to design improvement, judges will look at the methodology that led to the improvements, and a clear content strategy. Magazines of any frequency, and published by any institution type may be entered in this category.
Submit four complete editions in PDF format: two editions representing the publication before the improvements (those editions may have been produced before Jan. 1, 2022), and two complete editions published since the improvements.
Judges will score nominations from 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest) in these five areas:
Overall concept and creativity
Content, writing, and editing
Design and layout
Audience engagement
Use of resources (budget, people, and time) and return on investment
Judges also may consider:
Special circumstances/overcoming adversity
Quality and clarity of nomination and supporting materials
