From the Judges' Report
Stanford Medicine's CASE entry form says it "strives to engage readers inside and outside of academic medicine." We thought it hit the mark.
Rather than detailing alumni and school news, the magazine examined pressing issues affecting health care, often detailing the human impact on physicians, patients and families.
A number of the feature stories were deeply personal and affecting, for example, "And Yet You Try" about the efforts of a physician who specializes in early cancer detection to save his only child, diagnosed at 14 with a brain tumor.
The design made use of illustrations and photography effectively, although the magazine is fairly content heavy and some pages could have benefited from more white space.
