About the entry
A communications plan was quickly drafted to ensure all parties involved agreed to our strategy and approach. This plan clearly identified our goals, objectives, audiences, spokespeople, the facts of the issue, key messages, actions required with a timeline and individuals assigned/ accountable to each action.
From the Judges' Report
- With less than 24 hours notice of a major disruption, the communications team was able to think quickly and even more impressive, also implement a strategy to keep many audiences informed. This entry demonstrates that they had great relationships with internal and external audiences in advance of the crisis and were able to leverage those relationships quickly in this crisis situation.
- They quickly determined the messaging, the media and the timing of all communications and even the arrangement of the shuttles. Based on the low number of questions and the number of shares and social stats, it seems like they were ahead to the problem in the way that they chose to communicate, in spite of the quick timeframe.
- There were many moving parts to this crisis and it seems that the team was able to flexibly address any surprises as they emerged.
