From the Judges' Report
Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), along with the University of Pittsburgh, co-hosted the White House Frontiers Conference on the future of innovation. The day-long conference brought together approximately 700 leaders in academia, industry and government and included five tracks-personal, local, national, global, interplanetary-and a plenary featuring President Barack Obama. The judges loved that the institution was able to leverage the relationship with the White House to promote, not just the institution, but the city of Pittsburgh as well. Good content and clear messaging make this entry a success.
