The 2017 Oriental Institute Gala: Bringing the Past to Light
About the entry
The Oriental Institute at The University of Chicago is a free, public museum that has one of the largest collections of ancient Middle Eastern art in the country, with many of the objects excavated by University of Chicago archaeologists. The Oriental Institute Gala is the museum's single largest event to raise funds for the Institute and honor the contributions of a prominent donor/member. This is the invitation package which includes the save-the-date, invitation and program for the event on May 18, 2017.
From the Judges' Report
Bringing the Past to Light included several components including a save the date, invitation and reply card/envelope. The theme was reinforced through the graphic design elements and color palette. The two primary pieces were printed on metallic stock, which can be challenging in terms of maintaining clarity and print quality, but all were high quality. The save the date included a dull varnish, which was elegant. Care was taken in the design and bindery, with folds and design marrying perfectly. The reply card and envelope coordinated with fonts and colors but printed white stock. The pieces were stuffed into a metallic gold envelope. It was well thought out and resulted in a successfully-attended event that raised a lot of money. It was impressive the pieces were produced for less than $3 cost per unit because it felt much more expensive. High marks all around.
