Eastern Virginia Medical School publishes EVMS Magazine four times a year. The publication explores relevant topics within the fields of medicine and science and highlights how EVMS is responding to the critical questions being asked within academic medicine and healthcare today. For the Black & White issue of the magazine, EVMS explored the reasons behind the lack of Black males in medicine. A champion for the community, EVMS is committed to increasing diversity and encouraging inclusiveness within the Institution and the field of academic medicine. Unfortunately, the number of black males entering the field of medicine has remained essentially the same over the last 40 years.
