In September 2017, Brown set an ambitious goal: to eliminate loans from all undergraduate financial aid packages awarded by the University through a new initiative called The Brown Promise. The Brown Promise replaces all packaged loans in all financial aid packages for Brown undergraduates. Brown is committed to ensuring that talented students from all income levels from around the world can join the Brown community.
