Duke Alumni Association: "Crash My Hoops Watch" Program
About the entry
In March 2016, the Duke Alumni Association launched a new initiative to elevate and energize existing alumni programming during basketball season. Called "Crash My Hoops Watch," the initiative was designed to tag onto existing regional game watches that are held in 34 cities throughout the world during basketball season. The idea: Alumni association staff picked one lucky regional group to surprise during the annual "Battle of the Blues" matchup between Duke and the University of North Carolina. Staff showed up at their watch party with swag, giveaways and upgrades to food and drink.
From the Judges' Report
This program was a great example of creating meaningful cultivation experience for international alumni. We felt that while the program was simple to execute, the impact and demonstration of cultural relevance were outstanding. It was also impressive that this program was the suggestion of a student employee, a terrific example of including all staff members in creating new initiatives.
