From the Judges' Report
Duke has an art about its news writing. The selection of stories and topics shows strong news judgement. The strength of the news writing was consistent across all articles.
The judges were especially impressed and engaged by the article on kidnapped brides and their babies. After reading the article, judges wanted to learn more about the research the university was conducting on the topic. The article also peaked their interest in international human rights law and how it might be influenced by evidence based academic research and media coverage of such findings.
According to the judging panel, it is no accident that Duke has won the gold award for the second year running.
