About the entry
On August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse raced across the United States, from coast to coast. The path of totality began over the Pacific Ocean before first touching land just north of Newport, Oregon. Clemson University, which was located almost dead center within the path of totality, turned out to be one of the most popular places in the nation to view this eclipse.
From the Judges' Report
Wow! We were so impressed with every detail of this mega-event. They brought together the University community and the surrounding area. They made it easy and fun for people to participate. They incorporated the University’s mission. And it was free to all. This was truly worthy of the Grand Gold Award.
