Every year, Middlebury College produces a holiday greeting that is sent to alumni. This year's concept was to invoke a sense of nostalgia by utilizing archived winter footage, taking the viewer on a 50-year journey decade by decade up to the present. Voiceover of alumni talking about their favorite winter memories ties everything together.

Our judges felt nostalgic and got goosebumps on this one and none of us attended Middlebury. This was a wonderful way to use 50 years’ worth of footage and unscripted voiceover to connect the different eras of alumni and celebrate what is unique about winter at Middlebury, and connecting it to now. Plus, a holiday video without jingle bells is rare and refreshing. This was a great way to keep your alumni engaged with the institution they support. And they did it on the cheap – just the cost to license the music.
Moral of the entry: When you have great university archives, use them! You can’t replicate that kind of authenticity in connecting with generations of your alumni donors.
