About the entry
The cover for the Fashion Institute of Technology innovation issue didn't use text, so the image had to tell the story. The Fashion Institute of Technology wanted to capture the idea that humans of every period look to the possibilities of the future, and wanted do it in a way that was both startlingly beautiful and unexpected.
From the Judges' Report
The image used could not be more perfect. The judges loved the juxtaposition of 18th century dress and modern technology. We appreciated the minimal use of typography, the thoughtful interplay between the masthead and illustration and the pop of unexpected fluorescent ink. The judges felt that they successfully communicated the message they were trying to convey in a way that is both beautiful and seemingly effortless.
