About the entry
The Duke Alumni Association planned an exclusive, after-hours event of the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) in Washington, D.C., shortly after it opened. The museum, which features many Duke and Durham connections, drew nearly 1,400 alumni--producing the largest non-athletic alumni event outside of Duke's campus.
From the Judges' Report
People would have flocked to this event if they had done nothing other than open the doors to this impossible-to-get-tickets new museum. But they made the event truly special with innovative and thoughtful touches, such as placing professors in different areas of the museum and using it as an opportunity to focus on the contributions of African American alumni.
