Founded in 1865 and situated amid the intellectual vitality of Oberlin College, the Oberlin Conservatory of Music is the oldest continuously operating conservatory in the United States. It is recognized internationally as a professional music school of the highest caliber, dedicated to preparing its students for careers of distinction across the musical spectrum. It numbers approximately 580 students, nearly all of them undergraduate; roughly 180 conservatory students concurrently pursue degrees from Oberlin College.
