Sixteen for Success
About the entry
Utilizing a $2.4 million dollar contract education fund supplied by Dr. Prem Reddy, the Victor Valley College District Foundation (in partnership with Desert Valley Hospital and Prime Healthcare), created and implemented the innovative "Sixteen for Success" program. The initiative accelerated educational opportunity for waitlisted nursing students and advance regional economic prosperity. Each semester, this program allows sixteen waitlisted nursing students (for a two year total of 64 participants) to be selected through a competitive application and interview process as participants in the training program. This contract provides full funding for each participant's tuition, textbooks, uniforms and testing fees, as well as access to academic support resources such as supplemental instruction, tutoring and mentoring.
