    About the entry

In the Summer 2017 issue, with stories curated around the theme of "intelligence," Stanford University took a chance and approached the topic of emotional intelligence with a dose of levity, asking a comedian to write about humor in the workplace. And in the Autumn 2017 issue, it departed from the usual quick-paced format of short story after short story to showcase a long-form narrative set in Africa.

    From the Judges' Report

Our judges were impressed by the design and content that you didn’t need to have an M.B.A. to be intrigued by. When it comes to the design our judges liked the smaller size, the “intelligence” cover and how well the magazine was organized.

When it came to writing and story selection, we liked the wide exploration of the themes of “intelligence” and “transformation” through voices ranging from a popular humorist to faculty and alumni.

Features, like a powerful one chronicling an alumna’s efforts to transform lives in Africa through organic floors, were balanced with “news you can use,” like three questions you should always ask in interviews.
