Year Three
About the entry
This is the annual report for the third year of Wake Will: The Campaign for Wake Forest. It also is the lead-in to the extension of the campaign, which took the name Wake Will Lead. It captures information from January 2016 to December 2016.
From the Judges' Report
The first thing we noticed about Wake Forest’s “Year Three” is that it is beautifully designed. The second thing we noticed is that the book focuses on one alumnus, Bob McCreary, for more than half of its 76 pages. Sure. That’s a little risky, but it also allowed the Wake Forest team to really develop this man’s story and convey to their audience McCreary’s huge influence on the institution. Not all of our judges were convinced that this was a good idea, but it certainly got us talking—and it was unique among the entries we judged. Perhaps most important, it was memorable. The report feels very much like a magazine: its emphasis is clearly on storytelling. We wanted to read this book. (Not incidentally, there were no donor lists here.)
