Adrift: New Trail Magazine's Autumn 2018 Cover
From the Nominator
Aging is an area of priority for the University of Alberta and we wanted to highlight that area of excellence with our autumn 2018 issue of New Trail. This cover story draws attention to an exciting area of research: caring for people living with dementia. However, it was also important that this piece—and the cover—go beyond dry research findings and represent the human side of this disease. It needed to feel of value to the reader and ring true to those families who live with the effects of dementia.
From the Judges
This cover offers a thought-provoking image that pulls the audience in. The judges found it to be a smart way to convey a difficult message. It is striking composition that tells a complex story—though there were minor criticisms about the complexity of the imagery.
