The Brown Alumni Magazine website evokes the bold design and content organization of the print issue, while expanding the reader experience with responsive design, sections that expand on areas of interest -- such as our online Books section -- and teasers at the end of every story that encourage readers to keep exploring based on their affiliation and interests. The site encourages readers to interact with magazine staff at every turn.
From the Judges
Brown Alumni Magazine actively and uniquely encourages readers to stay engaged with the content—and the site—creating the feeling of reading an interactive magazine in the commercial market. Innovations included actively asking readers what they thought of stories, aggregating recent comments on multiple stories at the bottom of articles and collected on one page, and offering attractively presented polls. A variety of bold illustrations and photography complemented the solid narratives. “Idiotproof navigation” was one judge’s summary of this magazine’s navigation.
